Note
Sheet 1, "A patriotic Massachusetts man." This is the title sheet with a head and shoulder portrait of Henry Knox in front of an American flag on the right. In the center is a map of the journey from Ft. Ticonderoga to Boston and to the left a scroll of text describing the journey.
Sheet 2, "Ticonderoga-Boston. Massachusetts and New York men led by a patriot. These paintings are presented in memory of Henry Knox." This whole sheet is text about Knox and the journey.
Sheet 3, "The large barge sinks at Sabbath Day Point on Lake George." A painting of the fully loaded barge and its men struggling to stay afloat in the stormy waters of the lake.
Sheet 4, "Crossing the Hudson River at Albany." A painting of the troops crossing the ice and snow covered river. In the foreground a group struggle to rescue the survivors of a barge that has fallen through the ice into the river.
Sheet 5, "Through the hazardous Greenwoods of the Berkshire Hills." A painting of two riders, perhaps spies, making their way through the forest in a driving snow storm.
Sheet 6, "Knox views the valley toward Westfield from Glasgow Mt., Blandford." A painting of Knox on his horse at the right, spyglass in hand, looking at the valley below while men with sleds of supplies being pulled by oxen, travel down the snow covered mountain.
Sheet 7, "Victory over the mountains is celebrated at Westfield." A painting of a the troops gathered outside the town of Westfield with Knox in the foreground calling the celebratory cannon shot.
These prints were produced from the original oil paintings owned by the Great Barrington Savings Bank. .
