In response to Col. Dayton's "truly refreshing [news] as it makes some attonement [sic] for our northern Blunders."
Also mentions Dayton's suspicions of "two Gentlemen" [unidentified] and reassures his superior that "the most reputable Officers in the Regiment will obstinately support you," and that he is "busily collecting the Witness & Proofs you desired ..."
Barber & Dayton were original members of the Society; Barber was accidently killed at Newburgh in 1785.
