General and regimental orders in an unidentified hand, apparently that of a Connecticut officer.
Portion of Continental Army general orders for 9 July 1776, for an unidentified date, and for 9 Sept.
Pages [1]-[2] include findings of courts martial, procedures for obtaining passes to leave New York City, and Congress' allowance for one chaplain per regiment, with the pay of 35 and 1/3 dollars per month.
Orders for 9 Sept. announce the appointment of Elias Mather as QM to Tylers Regiment; Gardner Carpenter appointed Pay master to Col. Huntington's regiment; Regimental orders announces Mr. [Samuel] Henly being to leave the Regt. of Artillery "returns thanks to the soldiers for their good behaviour while he was honard as their Adjt..."
Undated fragment: ... Troops are to be under arms every morning a little before break of day ... and continue till sun rise when they may be dismissed. As the preservation of our country may depend very much on a strict obedience to this order it is hoped that commanding officers of brigades and regts. will pay perfect attention to it.
Undated fragment (verso): Colo. Weedons Regt. will take their orders from Col. Marshall
On verso of fragmentary leaf: To Miss Allmy - Maddam please to delliver to the barrer my chest with the things therein & you will oblidge your humble sarvant.
John Tyler was named Lieut. Col. of the 6th Connecticut 1 May 1775; he transferred to the 10th Continental Infantry 1 Jan. 1776 --see Heitman.
