A most unusual poem about experiences in the American Revolution, in which the author served as a Hessian mercenary. The central event here is the fall of Charleston in May, 1780. There is also frequent mention of Georgia, and surrounding parts of South Carolina. Among the names most prominent are Clinton and Cornwallis for the British, and Gen. Benjamin Lincoln (" Lincolm") for the colonial forces (it was Lincoln who capitulated at Charleston)
