Note
Written shortly after the discovery of Arnold's treason, this letter refers to Arnold's orders of 11 August that Weld take command of his detachment Massachusetts militia, consisting of "three Capts., six subs., nine sergts., &c..."
Emphasizes the expiration of enlistment for his detachment on the 14th of October: "I wrote to Major Genl. McDougall on the 5th instant respecting the detachment of militia under my particular command ..., & as he has left the command on West Point, I view it my duty to inform your honor respecting the same."
