The first protest was prepared by Lord Lyttelton and signed by 33 minority members of the House of Lords Mar. 11, 1766, following the passage of the repeal on its second reading; at the third reading, Mar. 17, the bill for repeal was finally passed, this second protest being introduced by Lord Temple and signed by 28 peers.
