Clarke, of Lebanon, Windham Co., enlists voluntarily in the army " raised by the Colony of Connecticut, to be commanded by Col. Nathan Whiting for invading Canada, and carrying War into the Heart of the Enemy's Possessions ..." Certified by Jonth. Trumble [sic] Asst. on 10 May 1758. noting that Clarke had heard the 2nd and 6th sections of the Articles of War against mutiny and desertion.
