Writing to his father-in-law from "Tinian," his estate near Highspire, Pa., Burd reacts to the news of the Battle of Bunker Hill: "I think they will have reason by & by for England to alter their opinion of the Americans. But all the while this experience will be dearly bought by the nation. We are constantly longing for news from our noble army before Boston."
