Signed: at Philad. Jany. 11 1777, En. Edwards. Anthony Morris, Jr. served in the Pennsylvania militia under Col. John Cadwalader. During a charge against the British at Princeton, Morris was stabbed by a bayonet in the neck and hit by grapeshot. He was taken to the Thomas Clark house and died three hours later. Signed by Dr. Enoch Edwards, providing a full listing of what was on the body of Captain Morris: a regimental coat, an overcoat, waistcoat, a pair of leather breeches, a pair of shoes, a wig, a cartridge box, a belt, a fur cap, a pair of mittens, a black stock, a tobacco box, two knives and forks, a pair of buckles, three keys, gold sleeve buttons, three flints, a silver watch and seventy seven dollars. This is the only known surviving inventory of the uniform, military equipment and personal effects of an American soldier mortally wounded in battle during the revolutionary war. Folds repaired.
