Inscription on title page, in another hand: Thos. Dungan's book. A Thomas Dungan of Pennsylvania belonged to the 6th Pennsylvania Regt. as of 1 July 1778.
Brigade and division orders.
One of 6 vols. kept by Pennsylvania officers between 1 Jan. 1779 and 26 Nov. 1780, the second winter endured by the Continental Army in Morristown, N.J. and environs.
Among other units in camp: 1st-3rd, 7th, 9th, and 10th Pennsylvania; 2d, 3d, and 6th Maryland; 1st N.J.; 1st and 10th Virginia; Gist's Additional Continental Regt.
Bound in paper boards with leather spine.
Partially legible notes on front paper cover include a list of foods and their prices (coffee, chocolate, etc.) and the name James Glentworth.
Purchased at Christie's, N.Y. 29 May 1998 with Fergusson funds and with additional funds from the Walter J. Miller Foundation and from the State Society of the Cincinnati of Pennsylvania.

Courts martial, supply and equipment shortages -- fatique and picket duty assignments, sanitary conditions in camp -- mutiny -- re-enlistments, pay and promotion -- military discipline (including an emphasis on von Steuben' s Regulations and a prohibition against gambling), security, and civil- military relations.
