On verso: Proof of the effectives, sworn as accurate by Moses Knap The 10th Massachusetts was authorized on 16 September 1776 and was known as Marshall's Regiment -- R. K. Wright. The Continental Army, p. 211. Samuel Darby and Othniel Taylor were original members of the Massachusetts Society of the Cincinnati. William Clark of Watertown, served as Capt. in Thomas Marshall's regiment; this roll is mentioned in Massachusetts Soldier and Sailors of the Revolutionary War (1903), vol. XI, p. 827.
