Brigade divided into 4 regiments, then shows the "Cloaths wanted on the apporaoch of winter - Coats, Jacketts, Breeches, Shirts, Stocking ..."
Since the First Maryland Brigader was attached to the main army, this document was likely written near White Plains, N.Y. & probably for the use of Quartermaster General Nathanael Greene in his planning for the upcoming winter
Note at right bottom indicated further need: 309 men were "detained at Philadelphia by order Genl. Arnold, who are not returned either in the State of the Brigade, as for Cloathing, so that ther will be an addition of 309 men to the Brigade, & three Hundred & Nine Suits of Cloth, more than what is returned for, wanting, as I am Inform'd they have none but Summer Cloathing; whether the above detachment of what number of them are Substitutes, drafts, Nine Months men, during the War of three years cannot be at present ascertained, but they are ordered to join their respective Regts. by genl. Smallwood he having obtained His Excellency General Washington's Permission ..."
