One table in a series of seven. The tables depict the entire military establishment, including the King's household, the French and Swiss Guards, the Gendarmerie, Infantry, Cavalry, Colonial Artillery, Dragoons, and Provincial Troops; included are particulars of their uniforms, names of senior officers, and recapitulations of regiments, battalions, and squadrons showing their total strength.
The comparative tables name vessels of each class and summarize the numbers of vessels, cannon, and crew.
The Marquis de Segur's reforms of the military and naval forces during his tenure as Minister of War are reflected herein, though they also show that France's fleet was reduced in size between 1783 and 1784 while the English fleet was superior in size throughout the period with 308 vessels in 1784 to France's 246 and 13,788 cannon to French 8,549.
Two of the documents were intended for the Comte d'Artois (brother of Louis XVI and later became King Charles X, 1824-1830).
Each document in cursive hand in brown and red ink on paper, presented in tabular form in grids of liquid gold, green, red, and black. Five include the royal arms.
