Framed with a French lined mat and 2" gold metal leaf frame with hand lettered plate reading: "Benjamin Franklin; Artist: Thompkins H. Matteson; Engraver: Henry S. Sadd ; ca. 1848," attached to the bottom of the frame.
It is unclear whether the known title, "Benjamin Franklin ; Born Jan 17th, 1706. Died in Philadelphia, April 17, 1790." that appears on similar copies of this engraving is present on this copy but hidden behind the mat.

Benjamin Franklin was made an Honorary Member of the Society of the Cincinnati from the State of Pennsylvania in 1789.
Framed with a French lined mat and 2" gold metal leaf frame with hand lettered plate reading: "Benjamin Franklin; Artist: Thompkins H. Matteson; Engraver: Henry S. Sadd ; ca. 1848," attached to the bottom of the frame.
