Note
Depicts the "apotheosis" of Washington, with Stuart's Athenaeum head, being raised by angels into Heaven in a cloud surrounded by a circular "frame" with rays. Below, to the left, are sixteen maidens, representing the "orphan states" in existance in 1799 at the time of Washington's dealth, who grieve around a monument with the name George Washington and the dates Obit Dec.XIV MDCCXCIX ae tatis LXVIII on it. To the right, Columbia stands before the empty throne with an eagle above.. There is no title, but below the lithograph are six lines of flowery tribute to Washington. Below the tribute it reads: Stamped by I. M Hermann.
