Half-figure to the left. Below the print, in the double line bordered title box, it reads: "John Trumbull (American, 1756-1843) Alexander Hamilton (Oil on canvas 30 1/4" x 23 1/8", painted 1792) National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. Given by the Avalon Foundation through the generosity of Ailsa Mellon Bruce."
Below the print on the left it reads: "Copyright New York Graphic Society," and on the right it reads "Printed in U.S.A." In the upper right hand corner is printed the number "5439"
This is a photographic reproduction of an original oil painting which belongs to the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. It is the original "Jay Type" painted by Trumbull for John Jay sometime before July 1792.
Alexander Hamilton was an original member of the Society of the Cincinnati from the state of New York.
