Number 1 from Spire [i.e. Speyer?], 23 Sept. 1743, concerns cavalry and foot strength at Germersheim in the Palatinate as well as physical description of the countryside; reports of the French troops based on French deserters' accounts. Also reports injury of Col. Mentzel during his attempt to destroy the magazine at Landau and predicts the departure of the Hanovarians. Urges timely selection of winter quarters and encloses 2 orders of battle (not present).
Number 2 concerns payment for troops Hanovarian troops in the Low Countries (3,000 Horse and 5,000 foot) and the need for supplemental forces.
Number 3, in French ("fait en double a La Haye", 21 Dec. 1748) lists 6 categories of expenses incurred by Hanovarian troops during the Rhine campaign of 1743. Total cost in sterling: 73,186.4 1/2. Refers to affadavits by QM General Bland, General Ligonier, and others.
