Though no active confrontations are documented, the crew practices drills with sails and guns sas well as redezvous with several vessels.|On p. [11} Jan.y 19th: At 7 P.M. Rich.d Potter, a marine, made his escape by swimming on shore.|On the 23rd, Lieut.t Rogers came on board "with bread, beer & water for present use."|On p. [13]: "... came on board from the Pitt of Yarmouth Jno. Cook, command.d on[e] of his men for to have his hand drest by the dr. occasion'd by the bursting of a blunderbuss."|Watermark: Taylor & Co.

Wikipedia identifies the commander of the British privateer as J. Henrick Neither version of the name is included in J. A. McManemin's Captains of the privateers during the Revolutionary War (1985).
A second title page, more elaboratly penned, refers to the Queen Charlotte as a privateer and identifies Hanrick as Commander.
Reports the weather, the crew's actiities, and a summation of each day's events.
On p. [6]: ... [A] copy of an extract taken from the Committee['s?] Private instructions to Captain James Hanrick, read publickly on board the Queen Charlotte in the Downs the 31st of Jan.y 1779. It concerns "kind and liberate" treatment of prisoners, "due rotation" of promotions", and dismissal of officers only after "publick examination before your officers."
