Note
"These may certify that Joseph Pumham joined the 2nd Connectic.t in the late 5th Conn.t the sixth day of April 1781 and was mustered in said Reg.t untill the 27th of December 81 when he was return.d desarted [sic]. [signed] Sam.el Comstock Capt. [and] Isaac Sherman, Lt.Col.Com.dr"
"Said Pumham was returned a deserter, by reason of his exceeding the limits of his furlough; but it appears by certificates from several respectable physicians sent to me, it was owing [to] his being in a bad state of health and incapable of joining. [signed] Isaac Sherman LtCol.Com.dr"
Both Comstock and Sherman were original members of the Connecticut Society of the Cincinnati.
