Summary
Item 3 is a T.L.S., Cockeysville, Md., February 23, 1934 : to the Right Reverend Bishop James De Wolf Perry, New York City.|Included with item 3 are copies of Perry's T.L., February 13 and 18, 1934 to Gardiner. Both concern an Eagle, the badge of the Society and a L'Enfant Eagle.|All three correspondants were members of the Society of the Cincinnati in Rhode Island and the Providence Plantations.

Item 1, an A.L.S., Cockeysville, Md., January 12, 1931, from Gardiner to Le Roy King , New York City, encloses a letter to Bichop James De Wolf Perry, President of the R.I. Society of the Cincinnati.
The original envelope for no. 1 is also included.
Item 2, the T.L.S.of the same date to Bishop Perry and encloses 3 pamphlets on the subject (removed and cataloged separately).
Both concern the established rules of requiements regarding membership to the Society. Gardiner was concerned that Bp. Perry, as president of the R.I. Society, have the letter in hand before the July 4 triennial meeting that Gardiner is unable to attend.
