Captain Lyman was assigned to the 2nd Sub Legion on Sept. 4, 1792 before being reassigned to the 2nd United States Infantry on Nov. 1, 1796 -- See J. A. O'Reilly III. No date appears below the name, as they do in Gravell's Foreign watermarks found on paper ... in America, figures 521 and 523.|Both Knox and Lyman were original members of the Massachusetts Society of the Cincinnati.|Docketed on p. Circular letter in an unidentified hand allowing "a premium of two dollars ... for each recruit duly enlisted and mustered ..."
Knox authorizes monthly musters and requires triplicate rolls be taken.
The Department also requires from the magistrate certification that each recruit is able bodied.
"For the expenses of qualifications and certificate, you will allow ... fifteen cents to be deduced" from the recruit's boundy.
