"Received of Pay-Table-Committee, their order on the treasurer, of this state, to secure the paymet of fifty one pounds six shillings & nine pence it being the balance due to Augustus Peck on the first day of January 1780 ... [signed] in behalf of sd Peck Jno. Sherman|Peck enlisted in the 6th Connecticut Regiment in December, 1776; John Sherman was Paymaster of that regiment at the time.|Sherman's dates assumed to be those of the John Sherman listed as from Connecticut and Massachusetts in the D.A.R.
