"Please to deliver to Mr. John Pickett Quarter Master serg.t to Colo John Glovers regiment six hundred & eighteen pounds of bread ... pray give them dispatch. If you have not enough baked borrow of Mr. Nath.l Shaw ....|On verso: Reciev.d the within conten[ts?] of John Deshon 618 lb. bread [signed] John Pickett Q.M.|One John Deshon, possibly this one, and Nathaniel Shaw were members of the New London Committee of Correspondence in 1776. The next year they were named to a committee formed to provide supplies to the army.|John Glover became Colonel of the Marblehead Regiment in 1775 soon after the events of Lexington and Concord. The unit was reorganized as the 14th Continental Regiment on January 1, 1776.|Several men named John Pickett served with Glover's regiment, but none listed in Massachusetts soldiers and sailors of the Revolutionary War are identified as quartermaster.|John Deshon served on the New London Committee of Correspondence at this time.
