Pennsylvania payment request to David Rittenhouse, Treasurer, ordering to "Pay to Doctor Matthew Maus Surgeon late of the ... Pennsylvania Line or his order, the sum of fifty four pounds thirteen shillings and seven pence being two year's interest on his depareciation certificate, due the tenth day of April, 1786 ..."|Ms. inscriptions at upper & lower left: "John Nicholson" (Comptroller-general of Pennsylvania); "Matthew Maus."|On verso: endorsed by Dr. Maus £64.23.7.|Dr. Maus served as a surgeon in the Continental Army Corps of Invalids January 1776 throgout the entire revolutionary war, being discharged in November 1783; he was an original member of the State Society of the Cincinnati of Pennsylvania.
