Summary
Encloses a letter (not present) from his brother-in-law D. Morris, requesting an application of the appointment of Morris' son Nicholas F. Morris as a midshipman. Fish states that Nicholas is descended both from the signer Lewis Morris and from his own ancestor, Nicholas Fish.
A partially erased pencilled note signed W.A.G. appears on p. [4].|One Nicholas F. Morris, possibly this one, died at sea two years later.|Nicholas Fish was an original member of the New York Society of the Cincinnati, and served as its president from 1797-1804. The author, a descendant of Nicholas, also served as president from 1855-1894.|Page [3] is blank.
