Both Humphreys and Monroe were original members of the Society of the Cincinnati.|Pages [3] and [4] are blank, but a miniature port. of Humphreys is pasted at bottom of p. [3].

Humphreysville, Conn., is now known as Seymour, Conn.
"[I]f the manufacture of wools cannot be carried on here, without great loss & eventual ruin, under present disadvantages, it is doubtful to me whether it can in any other place in America."
He elaborates on the loss of income of his workers, many of whom had been there since the inception of the plant in 1806.
