"I certify that Jno. Tracey has lodged in this office the following notes ... amounting to [12 pounds 2 shillings] for which I have issued 1 notes [sic] ... for which he is entitled to receive certificates in pursuance of an Act of the General Assembly passed in May 1789 / [signed] J. Huntington [crossed out and replaced by] P. Colt.
Colt was the treasurer of Connecticut beginning in 1790, succeeding Jedediah Huntington
Possible recipients include (1) John Tracey/Tracy (1755-1821) listed in the DAR Patruit index, as a private born in Connecticut and died in N.Y.; and (2) John Tracy (1726-1810), born and died in New London County, Conn. In neither case is his unit listed, whether Continental or militia service.
