Docketed on verso: From Lt. E. Gullidet [sic] / Feb. 3, 1781. Heitman however, reports his 1780 resignation.
"I have sent the inslitments to Col. Barbe ... except Morgans & varrick whoes [sic] I keep to prove heare as they are on the spot."
Reports having examined "the mens inlistments who are all during the war" that he has sent the information "to Col. [Francis] Barber by Major Pierce [Nicholas? -- in N.J. militia] [Daniel?] Morgans & Harricks whose I keep to prove hear as they are on the spot."
I have wait'd on Mr. [Chillion? or Mahlon?] Ford who desired me to inform you that he had lost the inlistments ... & could not quallify one way or the other."
"The criminals who weare [sic] to have rec'd sentence today, last evening broke goal and made their escape." Apparently refers to Loyalists.
Dayton and Barber were original members of the New Jersey Society of the Cincinnati.
