Power of attorney assigned to sell, assign, or transfer shares in the Bank of the United States
In February 1791, the First Bank of the United States (1791-1811), a semi-public bank received, at the urging of Alexander Hamilton, a national charter for twenty years.
Beginning in 1792, James Van Ingen served as clerk of the newly formed Bank of Albany. His notary's seal appears on lower third of the document.
Bleeker was an original member of the New York State Society of the Cincinnati, and Peter Gansevoort, Jr. was a successor member of the same constituent society.
