Both recent graduates of Brown University, Woods writes to Green to express his concern to the tumult of Shays Rebellion: "All is ruined. Massachusetts and R. Island are fallen into a general depravity." "I believe there will be some material alteration in the constitution of the State, and many land restrictions on the practice of the Bar ... I expect to run away to Virginia to Heaven or Hell, to the latter I fear, but to the former I wish."
