Lists about 150 horses that were acquired by various companies of Colonel Elisha Sheldon's Second Continental Light Dragoons during the Revolutionary War.
The horses are identified by color and distinguishing marks, and by the owners who sold them to the army. The second part identifies the locations of the pastures where the horses were sent. Many of the horses were purchased from notable American military figures.
