Note
Montgomery, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, wrote this petition for a pension for John Dinwiddie.
Dinwiddie was born in Amherst County, Kentucky, who enlisted as a regular soldier in 1779, and served in the Southern Campaign under Col. Henry Lee.
Dinwiddie’s original application for a pension in 1818 had been suspended and Congressman Montgomery hoped the amended application “will be deemed sufficient.”
With: separate mailing wrapper, stamped "free."
