[4]: "I certify that the within Power of attorney is duly recorded ... this 3 January 1854 [signed] Mr. I [J?] Keith, Rgr.|As executor of the estate of the late Sir Claudius Stephen Hunter, Claudius Stephen Paul Hunter grants power of attorney to Desaussure and Gray in order to obtain recompense from the estate of Eliza Laurens, deceased, the Laurens’ Mepkin Plantation; Edward Simons Lucas; and Hunter, surviving trustee of the marriage settlement of Francis Henderson late of London, Newport, R.I., and Charleston; and Frances Eleanor, his wife.|Seeks payment with interest of fifteen thousand dollars "or other monies secured" to the executor "as surviving trustee of the marriage settlement of Francis Henderson ... and Frances Eleanor Henderson ..."|Frances Eleanor Henderson was the daughter of Henry Laurens.|Desaussure was a member of the South Carolina Society of the Cincinnati.|On vellum.|Digitized image available.
