"I was duly honored with your letter ... with subject of naming the forts and hinting the propriety of giving the name of Greene to one of them supposing that that distinguished general had been forgotten."|"... [Y]ou may rely on it that General Greene's name or his achievements will not be lost sight of, in naming of the forts. There have been some works named Greene, but are now in decay & therefore will not be regarded, as doing any honor to him, at least in the degree his great actions & services merit."|One Fort Greene in New York and two in Rhode Island are possible forts relevant to this letter.|Page [3] is blank; p.
