"Observing that prizes loaden with provisions are sometimes sent into your port (New London) & other parts of your neighbourhood, I am desired by the Hon.ble Mr. Holker agent to the Royal Marine of France to request you will henceforward keep a look out & purchase for account of His Most Christian Majesty any quantities of good beef, pork, butter, flour, bread, oil, & salt fish that can meet with in prizes & can buy on such reasonable terms as your own judgement approves ...."|"[I]t is absolutely necessary to provide supplies for His Majestys fleets & armies for your reimbursement you may draw on me the full amount|"[I]f you find it difficult to get money for drafts on this place & more easy to raise it on Boston or any other place let me know and I will find proper credits ... & in the mean time if any thing turns up to call for immediate supplies I will desire Mr. John Rowe of Boston to honour your bills on him." ..|Page [3] is blank; page [4] is address leaf|Robert Morris was an honorary member of the Pennsylvania Society of the Cincinnati
