The centre of the shield has pasted on a slip with ms. inscription "Rob. Ross" (Major-General Robert Ross, who later won fame as "the man who captured Washington" during the War of 1812); his ms. annotations throughout the text; ownership stamp on front free endpaper: "Rosstrevor House, Library."
