Vol. 1 issued in separately paged sections: v. 1 [pt. 1] dealt with the history of the American Revolution (with caption title: Monthly register, and review of the United States; v. 1 [pt. 2] contained essays, serialized moral tales, reviews of American publications, poetry, and French literature, with title: Monthly review and literary miscellany of the United States. The division into two sections was abandoned in later volumes (v. 2).
