"Be pleased to transmit ... any evidence which your records may afford, that Charles Norton was commissioned, by Connecticut, ensign in '76; lieutenant in '77; and captain in '77, also of any service as captain between '77 and '83."|According to Heitman, Norton was an ensign in Douglas' Connecticut State Regiment from June to Dec., 1776 and a captain in the Connecticut militia in 1777. The D.A.R. Patriot index gives his birth date as Dec.19,1748; family records list his death at Mendon, New York on 11 March 1837.|Pages [2] and [3] are blank; p. [4] is address leaf
