Summary
"Being applied to by a son of Col. Zebulon Butler for information respecting arrears due him for revolutionary services ...," and having received a "vague" response "not mentioning specifically whether [Butler] ever received those two certificates [of deserved pay] from Charles Fanning, who, like Richards had been a paymaster in the Continental Army, Richards seeks Kingsbury's help. Kingsbury had been the Connecticut Comptroller.|"Now Col. Butler's heirs claim for his monthly pay as Lt. Col. in the 3d - Wyllys' regiment; and as full colonel i the 2d reg.t; also for his final stttlement certificate, and commutation certificate."|"I presume neither you nor I shall ever regret performing any service for the benefit of the heirs of so good & usefull a man as Col.
