"It is required by the War Department at Washington to get a certificate from you" regarding the Revolutionary War service of Mr. Thomas Brown.|Service listed: 1775 in Capt. [James] Eldridge's company, Col. [Samuel] Parson's Regiment and went to Cambridge & vicinity; In 1776 & 1777 in Capt Babcock's company in Col Selden's Regiment, and served in New York City and vicinity; in 1777 at the taking of Burgoyne in Capt. Babcock's company in Col. [Jonathan] Lattimers Regiment.|Brown's service in 1775 and 1776 is further documented in Record of Connecticut men in the military and naval services, pp. 74 and 99 : in Capt. Eldridge's company of Samuel Parson's regiment.|"The services in 1776 & 1777 under the captains Babcock were not the same men, but of the same name|In pencil on address leaf: Minutes enclosed / another certificate was for services in 1775, 6 Sep.r -1837 - See file that date [signed?] EB|Lattimer's dates from the D.A.R.
