Summary
Bush writes on behalf of a veteran of the Revolutionary War: "If Israel Clark succeeds, he can afford to pay you liberally[.] [I]f he does not, he himself can pay nothing as he is a pauper."|Service cited includes 6 months service in May, 1775 in Capt. Thomas Lusk's Company, marching to Green Bush and Crown Point, then serving in a scouting party under one Kelley until Jan. 1 or 2 1776.|In 1776, he marched to Montreal and enlisted into Captain Smith's Company. He enlisted again at Lanesborough, Massachusetts under a Sergeant Brattle for 6 months and marched to West Point where he was mustered.|He later enlisted for 3 months under Captain David Wheeler and marched to Ticonderoga.|"I hope you will be able to find something to help the old man[.] [H]e is so broken that it is extremely difficult to get facts from him. He & his wife are both paupers in a neighboring town."|Page [4] is addess leaf.|Israel Clark is listed in Record of Connecticut men of the military and naval service, p. 646 as a Connecticut pensioner living in Ohio. His name does not appear as a member of Capt. Smith's Company in 1776
