Dr. Pierre Chaillé (a French Huguenot) emigrated because of religious persecution & settled at Snow Hill, Maryland, 1710; his descendant Peter Chaille was Colonel of the First Eastern Maryland Battlion of Infantry during the revolutionary war, a members of the Convention & Senate.
