Summary
"The widow and two brothers of Col. Benjamin Ford who was killed in the Battle of Hobkirks Hill in April 1781, have written to me ... to enable them to obtain the land due to him from the U. States."|Because Smith has no access to "the necessary proofs" which Smith lists, he seeks Culbreth's assistance in accessing the records in Annapolis.|"I knew Colo. Ford well, and think he entered in Smallwoods Regt 3 Jany 1776, was gradually promoted, &c &c."|Page [3] is blank; p. [4] is address leaf.
