Summary
Apparently a request to inquire whether the things he had requested had arrived at Myfords ferry and if so that they be brought to him "this night as we are to sail tomorrow morning." Also mentions 15 gallons of spirits and "my little Negro boy to go with me."|"Let my cook & [Rundle?] be sent immediately to Mr. Simons."|Place name surmised from General Greene's order that boats be brought to Myford's Ferry on Long Iland to transport troops arriving just prior to the Battle of Long Island. --see Papers of George Washington, Revolutionary War series, vol. 6, p. 3, note 3.|At bottom: "To the officers of the ferry guards[,] Permit James Dunscomb to pass the ferry to bring on Mr. Michels's [i.e., Nicholl's?] Baggage." [signed] J Reed Adjt Gen.|J. Reed, Adj.t Gen is probably Joseph Reed, the soldier and politician who was an adjutant general in the Continental Army at the time.|In poor condition with holes in paper, affecting text.
