"We are in a good deal of confusion here in town, & whilst you fight the enemy, we fight one another."|Refers ti the "present serious dispute" which he knows not how it will end, "but the committee in their affair with Mr. Holker have so far compromised the state, if not more, that I see not how they can retreat or advance with their honor or safety.
