Title within gilt double border, with a watercolor vignette of a ship sailing out of a harbor; text within red ink double borders.
Extensively annotated & corrected throughout the text, probably by the hand of Dauphin de France (also known as Louis Ferdinand de Bourbon, the son of King Louis XV, but died before ascending to the throne).
Some leaves blank or written in recto only.

Bound in red morocco; arms of Louis Dauphin of France gilt stamped on both covers & surrounded by rich gilt border; spine richly decorated in gilt; gilt inside borders with blue silk endpapers.
