Shows the basic elements of L'Enfant's original design for the Society diploma; draft consists of a sketch of the certificate with notations on the script and illustrations to be used.
At bottom: "Charleston, Oct 29 1822. Mr. Charles C. Wright will engrave the above from the model and size of the old certificate equal in other respects, and in the writing superior, for $200 - or he will engrave a certificate of half the size (if a drawing on that scale should be furnished by the Society) for $150."
