Captain Alden served as the commander of a Bridgewater company of Colonel Edward Mitchell's regiment of the Massachusetts Militia.|Nos. [1]-[13] (Sept 5, 1775-Feb. 17, 1777): consists of correspondence between Captain Nathaniel Alden, his wife Lydia Alden, and his son Captain Nathananiel Alden, Jr., including 3 letters from Nathan Alden Jr. to his father (including two while serving in the Siege of Boston), 4 letters from Lydia Alden to her husband, and 6 letters from Nathan Alden to his wife while serving at Bristol, Rhode Island.|Nos.
