"Pay Doct Eldad Merril [sic] one pound two shillings & seven pence for administring [sic] to Connecticut soldiers sick out of camp ... & charge the Colony."|On verso: Rec.d 10 May 1776 of Treasurer Lawrence one pounds two shillings & seven pence being the contents for Doct.r Eldad Merrills per Joseph Merrell 2nd|Docketed on verso: No. 4095 / Eldad Merrells / order ... and r/ed May 13 1776 / S B|Watermark: Prudence, apparently half of the waternark "Liberty & Prudence" -- cf. MSS L1989.1.37 in this collection; comparable location of chain lines|Tombstone for Dr. Eldad as well as marriage records for him spell his name "Merrell" though he appears elsewhere as Merrill or Merril.
