"I went to Gen.l Parsons's quarters at Redding [Conn.] on the 8th of August 1779 sick with the fever and ague & continued there untill the 19th of Nov. following. I never knew of his drawing more rations from the public than he was intitled to." "Q: [D]id the Gen.l keep soldiers at his quarters on his private business" A. No. There was not more than two continuing there at any one time while I continued, both from his brigade. One was devoted to wait on me in my sickness, [or] in the room of my servant who was doing duty in camp; the other to take care of the publick horses which was [sic] there [recruiting?]"
"Q What quantity of forage did the gen.l receive while you continued at his quarters. A. It is impossible to ascertain exactly, as none was weighd neither was an ounce receiv'd while Capt. Hoaglin [i.e., John Hoagland ?] of the Dragoons was quartered in the town. I further know that a large number of officers who were intituled to forage & were travelling to & from the Army stopt at his quarters and received public forage."

Parsons was an original member of the Connecticut Society of the Cincinnati.
